Giving
It's getting to be that time of year again, so I'd like to repeat my call for donations to my favorite charity, Child's Play
In 2005, I put out the following challenge: to buy a PS2 for the Sick Kid's Hospital in Toronto. I asked that people pool their money through me, and offered to match every donation with an equal amount from me. Unfortunately, we fell short of our PS2 goal, but still sent about $100 worth of stuff: Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life and GameCube Wavebird Wireless Controller, as well as two french "Asterix" comics.
---
This year, I up the ante. For every dollar you donate through me, I will not only match it dollar-for-dollar, but I will also match it a SECOND time and send money to my other favorite charity, Doctors Without Borders.
So yes: $1 from you = $2 to Child's Play and $1 to Doctors Without Borders
Send paypal donations to "martin@simaltech.com" or click the button above to join my donation pool. Of course you can donate DIRECTLY to Child's Play by clicking here. It's totally understandable if you don't trust me if you don't know me -- but please consider donating independently of me anyway.

With the help of hospital staff, we've set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, and movies. You can go to each hospital's list and buy a toy, and that toy will be sent to the hospital. Some of these kids are in pretty bad shape. Imagine being stuck alone in a hospital over the holidays, getting something from a fellow gamer would really raise their spirits. Some of the stuff the hospital will give away for kids to keep, while other gifts (like consoles) will be kept by the hospital for patients to use throughout the year.
