'What I Like About You', by 80's band "The Romantics", is featured in Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's. The band has sued Activision, the maker of the game, and is seeking an injunction that would force the game to be withdrawn from sale.

Here's the punchline:
- The aren't being accused of copyright infringement.
- Activision paid for the rights to make a cover version of the song.
- "The Romantics" are suing because the cover version sounds too much like the real thing.

Um.....what?

Did they think that the makers of Guitar Hero were hoping to turn it into a Rap Song? Or maybe some kind of Latin-fusion disco-samba?

Here's the headline I'd run if I were a newspaper editor:
Washed-up two-hit wonder sells out, then tries to get more money through cheap tactics.

Maybe a bit long for a newspaper, but I guess that's why I don't work for one.

The music business is a funny place. Case in point:

John Fogerty sued for sounding too much like John Fogerty.

Neil Young sued for not sounding enough like Neil Young.
